Mixing original and new wood flooring in a historic renovation.

A key feature of the historic renovation of the Gretna Primary School, being reimagined as a modern workspace, was the preservation and enhancement of the building’s flooring. Wherever possible, the original heart pine floors were carefully restored, ensuring that the space retains its authentic warmth and character. However, time and previous damages left some areas beyond repair.

To seamlessly bridge the past with the present, the Vision Wood team worked with Studio BKA to select Golvabia engineered walnut flooring to complement the original materials. The result is a seamless transition between old and new, maintaining the building’s timeless appeal while offering durability and beauty that will last for generations.
